
Effective Usage of a Battery Cordless Drill
The battery cordless drill comes in many shapes and sizes and is easily portable, generally powered by a
lightweight, rechargeable battery.
These drills are versatile and can come equipped with all of the functions that you would expect from a drill
that needs to be plugged in. Things such as a clutch mechanism that makes the drill ideal for driving screws are
common finds in the battery cordless drill. You should not think that because you want a cordless and battery
operated piece of equipment, that you now have to sacrifice any functionality, because this is not the case.
While the improved technology used in today's battery equipment allows for longer periods of drilling, it is
important also to note that the battery cordless drill can be quickly drained of its power when drilling larger
holes. This is why most people rely on a second, charged battery while drilling to avoid the need to wait for the
battery cordless drill to charge after extended use – once the battery is fully depleted you simply put in the
back-up. You could even charge more than one back-up at any given time, ensuring that you never run out of power
because there will always be at least one fully charged battery waiting to be used once your current battery pack
is depleted.
If you can spare a few minutes – about fifteen or so – after having depleted your battery, however, there are
now specially engineered batteries available for the battery cordless drill that can charge fully in under fifteen
minutes, generally referred to as “rapid charge battery packs” or simply “rapid charges.”
When purchasing a battery cordless drill, it is important to be
aware of the type of battery that gets used, as well as the voltage of the battery, since certain voltages will
give you the same amount of torque as the standard corded drill. NiCd batteries have the disadvantage of having a
short life-span for many reasons, and this is why most manufacturers of the battery cordless drill have decided to
use lithium ion batteries instead. These batteries are much better not only because they charge faster and last
longer, but also because they are lighter and allow for much longer periods of usage even though they charge
quicker. One other advantage of a lithium ion battery is that it is significantly lighter than the alternative
types that get used by certain manufacturers.
